From the flat Atlantic Coastal Plain to the steep, rugged mountains of the Pacific Northwest, regional tree improvement programs have been developed over the past 50 years to harness the genetic potential of our forests and create “better” trees for the future. The challenge for the next 50 years will be to accelerate the selection process for economic and ecologically important values while simultaneously protecting our most precious resource - the native gene pool. The WFGA and SFTIC invite you to join us in Galveston to share histories, compare and contrast present strategies, and chart our collective futures.
