Contributed papers and posters will be accepted in any of the following areas:
- History of forest genetics
- Selection, breeding, and testing
- Vegetative propagation
- Seed orchard management
- Molecular genetics, genomics of forest trees and biotechnology
- Genetic diversity and gene conservation
- Valuation of forest genetics
- Incorporation of genetic gain into growth and yield models
Instructions for Abstracts and Manuscripts
To present a paper or a poster, you must submit an abstract by April 15, 2007. See abstract guidelines for submission details. Participants presenting papers will be notified by June 1, 2007 of the exact date and time of their presentation.
SFTIC has traditionally published a proceedings with papers and full length abstracts while WFGA has not. A proceedings for this meeting will be published and authors are encouraged to submit a formal written manuscript or an extended abstract. Proceedings will be printed and mailed to all registered participants after the meeting. The proceedings will include copies of the presented papers or extended abstracts, abstracts of poster papers, a list of award winners, and a list of participants. The deadline for submission of manuscripts and extended abstracts is June 20 , 2007 (at the start of the meeting). See guidelines for manuscripts or extended abstracts.
Awards
SFTIC and WFGA both have a history of presenting awards for superior presentations and posters at their meetings. That means there are twice as many chances to win an award at this joint meeting.
- The Squillace Award will be given for the best oral presentation, based on content, style, and use of visual material.
- Two awards, the Zobel Award and the Critchfield Award, will be given in recognition of the two best oral presentations made by graduate students.
- Two awards will be given for the best two posters, one for the best poster presented by a professional and one for the best poster presented by a student.
Student Stipends
A stipend of $250 will be given to full-time students who give a presentation (and supply a manuscript or extended abstract) or who display a poster (and supply an abstract). The number of student stipends will be limited to eight and awarded on a first-come basis. Preference will be given to students making presentations. Please include a letter asking for consideration for the stipend with submission of your abstract. You will be notified if you qualify before the conference.
