The Texas A&M Forest Service Agency Director is the State Forester for Texas. The director is appointed by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. He is charged with leading the Lone Star State in its efforts to assure the trees, forests and related natural resources of Texas are protected and sustained. The director oversees the enforcement of laws pertaining to the protection of the land and its resources, and the prevention and extinguishing of wild-land fires. The director also monitors the state of the forests, recommends and implements plans for the future of forestry, and testifies to legislature the agency’s critical messages, needs and success stories.
