FReD is a telepresence robot — essentially an iPad on wheels — that allows a remote participant to actively engage in a meeting. Driving FReD remotely makes you feel more connected to colleagues by giving you a physical presence in the office. Currently, TFS has one telepresence robot located at the headquarters in College Station.

     + How-to

When you want to remotely attend a meeting, you can go to drive.doublerobotics.com and enter the username and password provided after you submit a request. You will then see a map showing FReD located in College Station. If someone else is using the robot, the status of the robot will be in use. If it’s not in use, you can click on FReD and start driving it.

It would be best for you to have a computer with a webcam, a microphone, and Google Chrome installed. If that's not possible, you could use an iPad or iPhone instead, but the best experience is on a computer. For improved audio experience, a headset or earbuds from iPhone/iPad certainly help with the audio quality.

While driving FReD, if the audio is inaudible during a meeting, you can enable audio boost.
