The Nature
Challenge website launched today, connecting Texans with fun, creative ways to
explore the outdoors, learn new skills and get involved in their community.
This statewide tool is the result of a shared vision between Texas Children in
Nature Network, Texan by Nature and Texas A&M Forest Service.
The Nature
Challenge desktop website encourages Texans to explore nature near and far by
completing challenges and earning digital badges, allowing users to track their
progress in a Challenge Progress Report.
“Often times,
the hardest part about getting out into nature and improving the environment is
simply knowing where to start,” said Jacey Tosh, Texas A&M Forest Service
Conservation and Education Coordinator. “Nature Challenge makes it easier than
ever by connecting Texans with opportunities to learn new skills, have some fun
and make a difference at the same time.”
The website
features an interactive map and directories that users of all ages can use to
find exciting challenges. These challenges feature place-based adventures at
various locations, thematic challenges that can be done anywhere and challenges
that can be completed at home.
“The Nature
Challenge provides the perfect opportunity for every Texan to have fun and
learn something new while enjoying the physical, mental and emotional benefits
of being in nature,” said Joni Carswell, CEO and President of Texan by Nature.
Nature
Challenge represents a community for all things outdoors and a location where
nature-related organizations can come together and easily promote their services,
opportunities and activities – and it’s free to use.
Organizations
and institutions that are committed to providing high quality environmental
education and increased nature access, can participate in Nature Challenge by
submitting challenges online at https://texasforestinfo.tamu.edu/naturechallenge/?page=page_4.
