  • EVENTS: REDEDICATION OF COLUMBIA COURT

Texas A&M Forest Service, along with representatives from NASA, the U.S. Forest Service, and the City of Nacogdoches, will rededicate the original seven trees of Columbia Court, planted inside the City of Nacogdoches’ Banita Creek Park shortly after the Columbia Disaster in 2003. The ceremony honoring the seven members of the Shuttle Columbia STS-107 crew will include the unveiling of a new informational marker and the dedication of two newly planted trees honoring Charles Krenek of Texas A&M Forest Service and Jules “Buzz” Mier Jr., a U.S. Forest Service contract pilot. Both men were killed in a helicopter crash during the efforts to recover the Shuttle Columbia and her crew.
