Oyster Creek Community Volunteer Fire Department receives grant for new truck

Oyster Creek Community Volunteer Fire Department received a $50,000
grant to purchase a small truck chassis. This grant was made possible through the Rural Volunteer Fire
Department Assistance Program.


The truck will be used primarily as a brush truck to improve the department’s capabilities during grass
fires.


The truck will also be used to pull the department’s side by side and trailers used during emergencies.


Oyster Creek Community Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank Texas A&M Forest Service
for making the grant possible.

As a member agency of the Texas A&M University System, Texas A&M Forest Service administers the
Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program and is committed to protecting lives, property and
natural resources. The Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program is funded by the Texas
Legislature and provides cost-share funding to rural volunteer fire departments for the acquisition of
firefighting vehicles, fire and rescue equipment, protective clothing, dry hydrants, computer systems and
firefighter training.
