Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department expands rescue capabilities

Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department received a $20,000 grant
through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program. The grant allowed the department to
buy tools used to rescue and extricate victims of vehicle crashes and assist in making forcible entry at
emergency scenes.

The tools are battery powered, making them easier for fire crews to manage without worrying about
refueling or access issues.

The department has already used its new rescue equipment during training.

Sherwood Shores VFD is always looking for new members. Anyone interested can call (903) 523-5034.
