Central Texas Restoration & Recovery

The Central Texas Restoration & Recovery Program supports conservation and replanting efforts by providing Central Texas landowners with seedlings that will grow well in their area.

Each year, our staff collects seed from native trees throughout Central Texas which is grown at our West Texas Nursery. These native seedlings are ideal for landowners who have been affected by drought, wildfire, flooding, or diseases, such as oak wilt.

Seedling availability varies annually, but some previous species that have been produced include bald cypress, bur oak, cedar elm, chinkapin oak, green ash, Mexican buckeye, Mexican white oak, pecan, and Texas redbud.

Our seedlings are sold in bundles of 10 per species for $45/bundle. They are grown in 10-inch tubes and vary in height from 6 to 24 inches tall. Orders are accepted – while supplies last – from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31. Seedlings are then delivered to designated Central Texas locations in early November for pick up. Each bundle of seedlings will be packaged in a cardboard box for easy transportation home.
