Leading and developing others
Supervisor Development Program
To support the growth of our agency and ease the transition into supervisory roles, we developed the Supervisor Development Program. The program’s primary goal is to offer both formal and informal training opportunities that empower participants to develop and master the competencies required to excel in supervisory positions. Designed to prepare individuals to lead both people and programs within the agency, the program provides essential resources, tools, and ongoing support for supervisors, while fostering an environment that encourages effective relationship-building across the organization.
Leadership Enrichment Program
In support of our continued commitment to developing future leaders, we created the Leadership Enrichment Program to enhance the pool of potential leaders within the agency. Over the course of a year, participants gain a deep understanding of what it means to be a leader at our agency.
They travel across the state to witness firsthand how our agency’s work impacts communities locally, while gaining broad exposure to the diverse projects and programs we deliver. Each cohort is also assigned a collaborative project that not only fosters teamwork but also contributes to advancing the agency’s mission and key initiatives.

Onboarding
Texas A&M Forest Service 101
As part of our onboarding process, within their first six months, new employees participate in Texas A&M Forest Service 101: An Introduction to Texas A&M Forest Service Programs. This engaging training program is offered in two, 2-day sessions – one in East Texas and one in Central Texan – and is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the agency’s various roles, responsibilities, and programs.
In addition to gaining valuable insights into our history and culture, participants have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with their cohort members, as well as interact with agency leaders and subject matter professionals during the sessions.
