Texas generally operates as a net-importer state in the forest products industry, with a net-import value of $3.10 billion in 2024.

• Solid wood market, including solid wood products and wood furniture, are among the categories with a net-import
  status.
• Paper and pulp market, including wood pulp products and paper and paperboard products, are categories where
  Texas has a net-export status.

Trade with Mexico and Canada accounts for 88 percent of Texas’s exports and 42 percent of its imports. Given the
importance of these trade relationships, the imposition of tariffs should be approached cautiously, as retaliatory
measures could be enacted, potentially disrupting the state’s forest products trade.
