Forest Restoration Projects
We work on projects across Texas to assist in ecosystem restoration efforts
-
Drought, secondary bark beetle invasion, and wildfires have devastated ponderosa pine forests in the Davis Mountain Reserve. We are working on reforestation efforts there.
-
Longleaf pine once dominated the southern Coastal plains, covering nearly 90 million acres at the time of European colonization, but only 3 million acres remain standing today. We are working to restore longleaf pine ecosystems in Texas.
-
After devastating wildfires, we have partnered with several agencies to restore the Lost Pines ecosystem located in Bastrop.
-
Supports conservation and replanting efforts by providing Central Texas landowners with seedlings that will grow well in their area.
Shortleaf pine
Shortleaf pine and associated habitats were once prominent in northeast Texas. These forest types provide unique habitat and other services. We are working with our partners to expand shortleaf pine ecosystems.
