SHERIDAN, Texas –- Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department replaced a 40-year-old tanker with the help of
a $198,000 grant administered by Texas A&M Forest Service.
The new tanker enables the department to offer more reliable service to its emergency service district.
“We needed a new tanker badly,” Fire Chief Jason Pausewang said. “Our old one was having a lot of
maintenance issues lately.”
The tanker comes with many upgrades that will help SVFD cover its approximately 65 square miles of
territory.
“We will be able to carry more water to a structure or grass fire with this tanker,” Pausewang said. “We
will be able to get there more quickly. Overall, this tanker has a lot more modern firefighting capabilities.”
TFS passes approximately $12.8 million along to volunteer fire departments across the state every year,
helping them purchase equipment to better protect lives and property.
“I’m glad we can utilize this grant to help our district and surrounding areas,” Pausewang said. “The grant
the program helps us help other people.”
