Hubbard Creek Volunteer Fire Department received a cost share grant through the Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program. The fire department used the grant to purchase a 2017 Ford F550 truck chassis that will be converted into a small brush truck.
“This new addition to our fleet will be a great benefit to our community by increasing our firefighting capacity,” said Hubbard Creek VFD Fire Chief Danny Stueart. “We will be converting it into a small brush truck that can fight wildland fires in the rocky, mesquite areas.”
According to Fire Chief Stueart, the department will be adding a slip-on unit with foam capability for quick response to fires in the rural and Hubbard Creek areas.
“Once the conversion is complete this truck will give us a very dependable apparatus,” said Stueart. “The Hubbard Creek VFD will be depending solely on donations and fund raisers to purchase the slip-on unit to finish the conversion.”
Hubbard Creek Volunteer Fire Department was established in 2009 to help save lives and property in their community and surrounding areas. Anyone wanting to volunteer, please call Fire Chief Stueart at (254) 246 2288
