Regional Fire Coordinator Ricky Holbrook and local TFS staff presented a big check in recognition of the fire department accepting a grant award to help increase the capacity of their fleet.
Forester Michael Easley of Texas A&M Forest Service presented Kennard VFD with a live oak sapling as a symbol of partnerships with those who help to protect forests and related natural resources against wildland fires.
Those present for the presentation included Kennard City Administrator Mike Deckard, Kennard VFD Fire Chief Don Parrish, Kennard ISD Superintendent Malinda Lindsey, and Texas A&M Forest Service staff.
The tree was planted at the Kennard ISD Elementary School as a reminder to future generations of the importance of protecting forests and natural resources.
