Arbor Day: Tree City USA
Tree City USA is an Arbor Day Foundation program that provides communities with a four-step framework to maintain and grow their tree cover. It also gives them an avenue to celebrate their work, showing residents, visitors, and the entire country that they’re committed to the mission of environmental change.
One of the standards communities must meet to maintain Tree City recognition is celebrating Arbor Day. In Texas, Arbor Day is officially celebrated the first Monday of November, although communities may hold their celebrations at other times. One of these cities is selected each year to host the Texas State Arbor Day celebration. This year’s event is hosted by the City of Weatherford and will be livestreamed for anyone to participate from anywhere.
