Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department adds new small brush truck to fleet

AZLE, Texas — Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department accepts a $100,000 cost-share grant to help
purchase a 2019 small brush truck. The grant was awarded through the Rural Volunteer Fire
Department Assistance Program administered by Texas A&M Forest Service.

“Silver Creek VFDs new brush truck carries 25 percent more water and is more reliable than the small
brush truck it is replacing,” said Parker County ESD 1 Fire Chief Stephen Watson. “It is currently
being up-fitted with communications and fire equipment and when completed, will serve as first
response for medical calls. We expect it to be in service the week of April 15.”

Small brush trucks are designed for respond to wildland fires and are beneficial is giving relief to the
larger fire apparatus when calls come in for medical or non-structure fires.

According to Watson, the truck’s 4-wheel-drive will give the apparatus needed off-road capability in
times of wildland fires.
