Van Alstyne Volunteer Fire Department adds dual purpose truck to fleet

VAN ALSTYNE, Texas – Van Alstyne Volunteer Fire Department accepted a $197,000 cost share grant from
the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program administered by Texas A&M Forest Service. The
grant was used to help purchase a 2019 brush truck.

“Our department is very pleased to have this up-to-date brush truck to help us better serve our community and
surrounding area,” said Van Alstyne VFD Fire Chief Ryan Dockery. “This apparatus has the capability to be a
dual purpose truck that we can use when responding to any type of emergency and it should serve our
department well.”

The department has been serving their area since 1889 and offers fire response for wildland, structure and
vehicle fires, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and rescue situations.

“I want to give Texas A&M Forest Service a huge thank you for having these types of grants available and to
the community for their continued support,” said Dockery.

Texas A&M Forest Service is committed to protecting lives and property through the Rural Volunteer Fire
