A Large Truck Chassis and slip-on unit have been awarded to the Coleman
Volunteer Fire Department through a grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Volunteer Fire
Department Assistance Program.
With the grant, the department has assembled a new fire truck. The truck will help in the suppression of
wildfires and will increase the response capabilities of the department. Having the added capabilities
will allow the department to rotate equipment to repair and maintain the fleet. This will increase safety
for firefighters.
The Coleman Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the Texas A&M Forest Service. “Without
the help of the Forest Service, this would not have been possible for our department,” said Jimmy
Watson, Fire Chief.
