Seale-Round Prairie VFD acquires new rescue equipment

Seale-Round Prairie Volunteer Fire Department received an $18,300 cost
share grant through the Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance
Program. The grant helped the department purchase rescue tools.

“The new electric Jaws of Life tools are an addition to our rescue operations,” said Fire Chief Eddie
Willis. “Since the new tools are lighter and stronger than the tools we were utilizing and they will help
to expedite our ability to extricate victims from vehicle crashes.”

The rescue system is designed to handle the advanced high strength steel in the newer vehicles. The
upgrade in equipment has the potential to increase the department’s capacity to save lives.

“Volunteer firefighters play a large and prominent role in their communities and they are doing so
without many of the resources available to larger agencies,” said Texas A&M Forest Service RFC
Justin Graf. “This department works tirelessly to serve their community and is extremely dedicated to
service. I am glad to see them receive the rescue tools grant.”

Texas A&M Forest Service is committed to protecting lives and property through the Rural Volunteer
Fire Department Assistance Program, a cost-share program funded by Texas State Legislature and
administered by Texas A&M Forest Service. This program provides funding to rural Volunteer Fire
Departments for the acquisition of firefighting vehicles, fire and rescue equipment, protective clothing,
dry-hydrants, computer systems and firefighter training.
