This year as part of National 4-H Week and One Day 4-H, the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program will partner with the Texas A&M Forest Service to help celebrate that agency’s 100th anniversary of protecting the citizens of Texas and the country.

Texas A&M Forest Service Communications Manager Linda Moon received the National Association of State Foresters’ Austin Short Current Achievement Award for Communications at the NASF conference this week in Lake Tahoe, California.

Bastrop is no stranger to the dangers and devastation that wildfire can bring to a community. One weekend proved how reducing overgrown vegetation and implementing other mitigating efforts can decrease the severity of wildfires—potentially saving a community from a destructive fire.

Texas A&M Forest Service will host a workshop called Managing Land and Vegetation in Southeast Texas. The workshop covers how using prescribed fire and fuel reduction treatments can reduce the risk of wildfire.
