Texas A&M Forest Service has taken an introspective look at the agency’s mission and associated values. Through a shared exercise, we have identified a set of core values and embedded them into our agency’s culture by communicating them, building understanding, and practicing them in our everyday operations and encounters. Communicating core values ensures that our shared principles are understood. Everyone knows what’s expected of them. Everyone knows what they should expect from the agency. Everyone becomes aligned around the basic principles of why the agency exists. And everyone thrives. The reputation and image of our agency is reflected through these core values, affirming them to the people we serve and attracting customers and partners who share similar principles. Employees are encouraged to give thanks to each other. With a peer-to-peer recognition program in place, employees can become more engaged and start to see how their position affects the work of others. All actions and recognitions are done in the spirit of LEADS core values and can be identified in action through the everyday work of our dedicated employees.
