Our forestry staff works with landowners to
actively manage forests, trees and related natural resources thus ensuring that
the state’s forest lands remain productive and healthy, not only for the
environment, but for generations of Texans to come.
Forestry
programs address the improvement of trees through forest genetics;
reforestation of the land; stewardship practices to ensure responsibly managed
land for future generations; forestry practices in urban settings; forest pest
and disease control; tree nursery operations; and, striving to maintain land
and resource use at a sustainable level.
Sustainable forestry
allows for meeting the resource needs of the present without compromising the
needs of the future.
