  • FIRE DANGER: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS FOR PRIVATE LANDOWNERS

    USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) 

    The Emergency Conservation Program provides emergency funding and technical assistance for farmers and ranchers to rehabilitate farmland damaged by natural disasters and funding for carrying out emergency water conservation measures in periods of severe drought.

     
    The Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program provides emergency assistance to eligible producers that have losses due to wildfires and other conditions.

    USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service

    NRCS programs assist landowners to conserve, protect and enhance natural resources on private lands; to reduce soil erosion; enhance water quality and quantity; increase wildlife habitat; and assist with recovery actions due to natural disasters. NRCS programs include: 
     
    • The Cooperative Conservation Partnership Initiative in Bastrop County is a program in partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund to enhance conservation outcomes for the Houston toad on agricultural and nonindustrial private forest lands.
    • Environmental Quality Incentives Program is a conservation program that provides financial and technical assistance to farmers and ranchers who face threats to soil, water, air and related natural resources on their land.
    • The Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program is a program that offers technical and financial assistance to private landowners to develop or improve high-quality habitats that support fish and wildlife populations on their property.

    Bastrop County

    Bastrop County’s Lost Pines Habitat Conservation Plan manages two grant programs that provide technical and financial assistance to private landowners. These plans help improve habitats for the endangered Houston toad and other wildlife.
